God’s Power in Christ: Ephesians 1:15-23

Ephesians 1:15-23 NIV

my ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you.
therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.
 Job 42:5-6

God has rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:13-14

With all we are and have been, we have been chosen, and chose to believe the truth, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, presented in the Holy Scriptures,  revealed to us by the Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation.

Paul’s testimony of the blessings of God toward us, Ephesians 1:3-14,  is a profound description of the plan and action of God in our salvations. The plan’s scope and grandeur is not only to create a new humanity, the church, but “to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.”

Paul knew the character and faith of these folks. He rejoiced in them, thanking God  for their salvations, and praying often for them. “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ would give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”

So that we may know him better

eyes of our hearts enlightened
to know the hope to which he has called us,
and the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints
to know his incomparably great power for us who believe

Read and reflect on verses 19b-23. Talk about the scope and grandeur of that power!

God appointed Jesus “to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way”.

No matter your trials of life here, know that you are in Christ, the hope of glory. You are a beloved part of God’s plan being transformed through your faith in Jesus. A day will come when he will return to gather you from this world of darkness.

all men are like grass and all their glory is like the flowers of the field.
the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:6b,8
