Wisdom in Christ: Ephesians 3: 1-21

As I begin to look at this passage I scripture I take note that Paul was writing this letter from prison.  Yet he doesn’t mention  this to evoke pity but to let us know he is really a prisoner of Jesus. He is there because he serves Jesus no matter what the cost.   His life belongs to Christ and he knows that Jesus is the one in charge of his life.  What a great perspective to have on life!  I have to ask myself, how would I react were I in Paul’s place?  Do I trust that Jesus is in control of my life no matter what the circumstances?  Have I fully entrusted every part of my life to Jesus or do I sometimes give my circumstances power over the way I think and act or react?  I’m afraid I would have to say that I sometimes do fall into the trap of letting my circumstances dictate my feelings.  I imagine I’m not alone.  When life challenges us a good scripture to recall is from Romans 8:37:  “In all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

Thank you Paul!

This passage goes on to try to describe the enormity of God’s love for us.   Have you ever  wondered if God really truly sees you and loves you?  It is pretty lofty to think that the eternal God, the creator of the universe could possibly see and care for every individual, but the Bible tells us it is so.  How do you put into words the abounding love God has for us?  Paul says it surpasses our ability to really comprehend the enormity of it.  Paul attempts to  define God’s love dimensionally , saying it is even longer, wider, higher and deeper than we can humanly imagine.  One person put it this way:

  • It is wide enough to include every person

  • It is long enough to last through all eternity

  • It is deep enough to reach the worst sinner.

  • It is high enough to take us to heaven.

I love the song by Chris Tomlin, “Amazing Love.”  The chorus says, “Amazing love,

How can it be?

That you, my King would die for me?

Amazing love,

I know it's true.

It's my joy to honor you,

In all I do, I honor you.”

Thank you Jesus for loving me so much that you would give your life for me, and for coming into my heart to dwell. May my heart be a place where you will feel wanted and comfortable.  May I remain open to the teaching of the Holy Spirit as I walk out my life.  This is my prayer for myself and for all of you as well!
